W.Va. man arrested in wife's killing, daughter OK

CAMP CREEK, W.Va. (AP) - Authorities say a southern West Virginia man is in custody in the death of his wife and that the man's 8-year-old daughter has been found safe.

WVVA-TV reported that the suspect, Tracey Lee Atwell, was apprehended late Saturday afternoon in Spanishburg. Police said they were able to track Atwell through a call phone he used to call his parents.

Police said his daughter, Porsche Atwell, was taken to a hospital but was physically unharmed. Authorities had issued an Amber Alert for her.

Tracey Atwell's capture came hours after his father, Willard Atwell, had appealed for the return of his granddaughter.

Police found the body of Tracey Atwell's wife, 33-year-old Christina Marie Atwell, on Thursday night. Porsche was missing.

Tracey Lee Atwell faces murder, kidnapping and armed robbery charges.

Media outlets say Atwell tied up his parents and took his daughter from their home in Camp Creek. The parents have custody of the child.
