Construction crews were cutting a guard rail and a spark ignited the fire around 2:00 p.m. Friday, according to Richmond Fire.
The fire started just past the toll plaza between the Boulevard and Belvidere exits, causing a great deal of smoke and closing all but the left lane to traffic. Fire crews got the fire out in under an hour and all lanes were re-opened.
