Armed robbery near VCU campus

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Police are looking for a man who robbed someone at gunpoint near campus Thursday morning.

The victim says he was walking near the corner of Pine and Grace streets around 9:20 a.m. Thursday when a man walking the opposite direction asked to speak with him. The suspect then pointed a gun at the victim, and demanded the victim hand over everything. The suspect left with the victim's wallet, which included $93 cash, an ID card and a social security card.

The victim was not a VCU student. VCU Police were notified at 9:50 a.m.

The suspect is a light-skinned black male, approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall, to 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighing approximately 175 to 200 pounds. He was wearing a camouflage jacket and black pants. He has no facial hair, and was not wearing any head coverings. He is armed with a small black handgun, and was last seen traveling on foot towards Broad Street on Pine Street.

"It can be assumed that conditions continue to exist that may pose a threat to members and guests of the community," according to an alert sent out by VCU. The alert also said Richmond Police and VCU Police have increased patrols in the area.
