UPDATE: Sunday morning house fire under control

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond fire crews are investigating a house fire, Sunday morning. Flames broke out at a duplex in the 2900 block of Hull Street Road just after 9:00 a.m.

Richmond Fire tells NBC12 that when crews arrived on scene, a moderate amount of smoke could be seen coming from the building's roof.

Crews began aggressive interior fire tactics and were able to mark the fire under control within a few minutes. We're told there is extensive smoke and fire damage to the interior of the home.

As of this writing, firefighters were still monitoring a few hot spots in the building.

Firefighters tell us one person lives in the home, but wasn't inside at the time.

The fire's cause remains unclear at this time.
