Midlothian, VA (WWBT)- Southside Speedway is a favorite for local racing fans, and the venue kicked off its 2012 season on Sunday afternoon.
Five races graced the schedule for the first events of the year, headlined by the J.M Wilkinson Memorial 150. This race featured late model cars, with Eddie Johnson taking the checkered flag. Chris Johnson finished second and Chris Dodson crossed the line third in the night's main event. Other race winners on Sunday included Daniel Thomas in the U-Car 25 lap race and Tanner Aman in the Champ Karts race, which was 20 laps. Nick Smith had a good day, winning both 20 lap Legend races. Tyler Hughes finished runner-up in both races as well.
