Independence hosts girls golf clinic

Midlothian, VA (WWBT)- Independence Golf Club is the home to some of the best golf instruction in the state for young aspiring golfers, and the venue welcomed a young group of girls scouts to the course to help sharpen their skills.

Independence hosted its first girls golf clinic for young female golfers on Saturday afternoon with the group.  Female golfers ages seven to 14 learned about different clubs and grips, as well as different types of golf swings.  General Manager Mike West and Director of the Robins Junior Golf Program Meredith Loosse organized and ran the two hour session.

West says that the main goal is for the young players to enjoy themselves, as well as learn some of the fundamentals of golf.  He says he wants to golfers to leave wanting to come back with their parents and to learn more.
