VCU's Teague says no Atlantic-10 talks

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A media report from this weekend tabbed VCU as one of a group of schools talking to the Atlantic-10 about joining their conference.  Monday, the school's athletic director said that report is not true.

"VCU is a proud member of the CAA," Director of Athletics Norwood Teague said in a release. "There have been no discussions with any other conferences concerning changing out affiliation. Contrary to media reports, the VCU Board of Visitors has not met about nor discussed conference realignment."

This weekend CBS Sports reported that Butler, VCU and George Mason were on the verge of joining the Atlantic 10 Conference.

George Mason Athletic Director Tom O'Connor also denied the report in a statement today.

VCU also announced Monday that assistant coach Jamion Christian who spent just one year in Richmond, will become the head coach at Mount St. Mary's, his alma mater.
