Firefighters warn about cresting river levels

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Firefighters have a warning to those heading to river after they had to save two people over the weekend.

The James River is expected to crest to 13 feet Monday.

Rescue crews had to save two people from Belle Isle.

We're told they were just playing around in ankle-deep water before the river levels quickly rose and they got trapped.

Crews warn that anytime the river is above five feet, you need to wear a life jacket.

Whenever it's above nine feet, you need a permit to be in the James.
