3.1 aftershock hits Louisa overnight

LOUISA, VA (WWBT) - Nearly eight months after the August earthquake, one of the strongest aftershocks so far, measuring 3.1, hit Sunday night.

People from Short Pump to Bon Air and even Midlothian are posting on the NBC 12 Facebook page saying they felt the tremor. Police say there are no reports of any damage.

It hit about eight miles south of Louisa and eight miles south, southwest of Mineral around 11:21 p.m. There have been more than 100 aftershocks since the August quake, including one that measured a 5.8 magnitude quake.

B. Wade Shearin posted this question to the NBC 12 Facebook page: "At what point do they become earthquakes again?" That happens when it's more powerful than the original.
