Car crashes into Richmond historic landmark

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond Police spent part of Sunday morning on the scene of an accident that injured one person and damaged a historic landmark.

According to officers, two vehicles collided just before 6:00 a.m. on N. 18th Street and E. Main Street. One of the vehicles crashed into the front of the 1800 Bar & Grill, causing minor damage.

The driver in that vehicle was hurt, but not seriously.

The driver of the other vehicle fled the scene before officers arrived, but was later apprehended by police.

An investigation is ongoing.

It's unclear how much the cost of repairs will be for the restaurant. 1800 Bar & Grill was placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior.
