HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - School days will be 15 minutes longer at Henrico county's 45 elementary schools next school year and the school system says parents are all for it.
Henrico County Public Schools says the move has been in the works for two years. According to the Times-Dispatch, teachers have been requesting more instruction and planning time.
The elementary schools will be split into two groups. One group will start school at 7:40am and end at 2:10pm. The other will start at 8:10am and end at 2:40pm.
Henrico school leaders say this staggered schedule will give bus drivers extra time to make second runs in their routes.
The school day changes won't effect everyone. Middle schools are being shortened by ten minutes while high schools will lose five minutes.
