RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A little boy playing outside was struck by a van, according to police.
Leonardo Leon Vitervo was playing in a parking lot around 5:00 p.m. Thursday in the 2600 block of Jefferson Davis Highway with some other kids when he was hit and dragged a few feet, according to witnesses. The driver of the red mini-van didn't stop and police are still looking for him.
The 6-year-old Summer Hill Elementary student suffered scrapes and bruises on his face and several broken bones including his ribs.
The child was rushed to VCU Medical Center where he's currently recovering. Police say he should survive.
Police haven't said if the driver was speeding, but we do know the speed limit is 10 miles per hour where the boy was hit.
