Cuccinelli files papers for gubernatorial run

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli filed paperwork Thursday to establish a committee for a gubernatorial run.

Cuccinelli says he's running for governor to promote a more efficient government. NBC12 is following this story and will update it as more information becomes available.

In December, the Washington Post first reported Cuccinelli's plan to run for governor, leading him to reveal his intentions before he got a chance to talk to his likely opponent, Lt. Governor Bill Bolling.

In a statement Bolling accused the attorney general of quote  "putting his own personal ambition ahead of the best interests of the Commonwealth and the Republican Party."
