VCU fans go wild for the Rams win

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - We were with the fans at the official watch party in Downtown Richmond.

And to say they were excited it putting it lightly!

Fans were at T-Millers Sports Bar in Downtown Richmond — even the mayor even came out for the big game!

There wasn't an open seat in sight... yet, towards the end, hardly anyone was sitting down.

"Definitely kept us at the edge of our seats, we were ready, they definitely pulled it off."

"I am so excited, it was a close game, a great game, we pulled through, yeah, go VCU, yeah!"

"Oh was I nervous, I though that ball was going in at the last moment."

Big Rams fan, Richmond Mayor Dwight Jones spent the first half of the game at T-Millers, front and center.

He told us, he spoke with VCU Rams coach Shaka Smart right before his flight out to Portland.

"I followed them last year," said Mayor Jones. "Went to Houston, went to San Antonio, everywhere they went I went, and if they'd been a little bit closer than Portland, Oregon, I'd be with them tonight, but I talked to the coach before he left, and he said they were going to do so good in Portland that I'd be able to see them in Atlanta."

But before the mayor books his flight to Atlanta, VCU will have to win again in Portland this Saturday.
