Virginia's unemployment rate lowest in three years

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - New unemployment numbers released by the Virginia Employment Commission show this is the state's lowest unemployment rate since January 2009.

In the report released today, January's unemployment numbers dropped 0.3 percentage points to 5.8 percent.

The highest unemployment rate for the state was in January 2010 with 7.3 percent.

The national unemployment in January also dropped 0.2 percentage points to 8.3 percent.
