RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The jury heard opening arguments Tuesday in a wrongful death lawsuit stemming from the mass shooting at Virginia Tech.
An attorney for the state said police believed the first two shootings were a domestic dispute and posed no threat to students. Otherwise there would have been a campus-wide alert. In hindsight, he said, the conclusion was wrong.
Attorneys representing the families of two victims criticized administrators' actions.
The trial is expected to last all week.
