RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - From Alaska to Virginia the battle for the GOP nomination continues. Virginia will most likely have a fairly light turnout with only two choices on the ballet. It's between Mitt Romney and Ron Paul. According to the Governor, the only candidate that matters is Romney.
Gingrich and Santorum didn't receive enough signatures to even land their names on the ballet here. While many people have their eyes on battleground states like Georgia and Ohio, Governor Bob McDonnel and other Republican lawmakers are still urging people to get out and vote today.
In the past Virginia has played a big roll in the presidential nominations giving George W. Bush a boost in 2000 and Obama saw a victory just four years ago.
However the Governor wants to see a different turnout this time around. As jobs, taxes, and healthcare are huge concerns for Virginians many Republican leaders say Romney is their choice.
Recent polls show he's leading Paul by quite a bit in the Commonwealth. To find your closest polling location click here.
