RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Sunday afternoon, mourners will have a chance to pay their respects to a Virginia war hero. Colonel Van Barfoot died Friday after suffering head injuries from a fall.
The Medal of Honor recipient made national headlines in 2009, when he battled his Henrico Homeowners Association to keep his American flag pole in his front yard.
Barfoot's children tell us the family will receive guests from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., then again from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bliley's Funeral Home at 3801 Augusta Avenue in Richmond.
Colonel Barfoot's private funeral will be in Mathews County.
