Chesterfield man caught in internet predator sting

BEDFORD, VA (WWBT) - A Chesterfield man once featured on Dateline's "To Catch a Predator" has been arrested for exploiting children on the internet.

Harold Austin Higley was arrested Wednesday following a three-month investigation by the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. He was looking for children online to engage in sexually explicit conversations and to solicit pictures, according to police.

Investigators seized evidence from Higley's house in relation to multiple victims and arrested him on four felony charges of using a communications device to facilitate certain offense involving children. He could face additional charges, once the seized evidence is examined.

Higley was featured in a Dateline NBC investigation by Chris Hansen as part of the "To Catch a Predator" series in 2005. He was apparently not charged in connection with that incident.

Higley is currently being held without bond.
