Two families displaced in Colonial Heights fire

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, VA (WWBT) - Two families were displaced by an early morning apartment fire in Colonial Heights.

The fire started at the Colonial Court Apartment complex just after 3:30 a.m. Monday near a water heater and was contained to the utility closet. However, four neighboring units had to be evacuated.

The residents in apartment 12 and 13 were displaced because of damage to the gas line and electrical service in the area. They're receiving assistance from the Red Cross.

Colonial Heights Fire estimates the damage is about $2000.
