Emporia, VA (WWBT)- The Greensville County marching band has performed on the national stage before, but never in front of a crowd quite like its about to.
Greensville will make its way to Daytona, Florida, this weekend and perform during the pre-race ceremony of the Daytona 500 Sunday afternoon. Greensville County is the alma mater of driver Elliot Sadler, whose foundation donated $5,000 to the band for the trip.
The group has put together a very successful year, winning numerous band competitions and is being rewarded for it success with the trip. The Daytona 500 invited the group to perform, as the race recruits different bands from around the country.
Greensville will depart Friday and return Monday.
