Virginia is one of a select group of states the Obama campaign has decided to pay special attention to.
Monday night, the campaign launched a "Truth Team" to beat back attacks against their candidate in the commonwealth.
A long list of elected democrats across Virginia will be dispatched to spin the president's message between now and the November election.
Fairfax Congressman Gerry Connolly will be one of the leaders of the Truth Team.
He beat back criticism that the president's budget, unveiled today, doesn't do enough to cut the deficit.
"In this year of trying to sustain the economic recovery and trying to put people back to work, he's got to spend a little to make a little," said Rep. Gerry Connolly, (D) Fairfax.
The Obama budget proposal boosts the deficit in 2012 but Connolly argued that the Obama budget has a long term plan of cutting it in half in 5 years.
