Delayed start to day 9 of Huguely murder trial - NBC12 - WWBT - Richmond, VA News On Your Side

Day 9 of Huguely murder trial canceled

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (WWBT) – Thursday was scheduled to be the first full day of defense testimony in the George Huguely murder trial, but instead was canceled due to illness.

Court was expected to resume at 9:30 a.m., but at that time, the judge informed the court that defense attorney Rhonda Quagliana is sick. A tentative 12:30 p.m. start time was set, but at that time it was announced there would be no court Thursday. It will resume Friday morning at 9:00 a.m.

The trial was originally expected to wrap on Friday, but that may no longer be the case. Testimony could continue through Saturday and if more time is needed, court would resume Wednesday.

Huguely is charged in the death of his former girlfriend, University of Virginia lacrosse player, Yeardley Love. On Wednesday, the defense pushed to have all six of the charges against Huguely, with the exception of grand larceny, dropped.
