RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The senate rejected a bill that would have made it easier for public schools to remove teachers from their jobs.
The law would have replaced continuing contracts with three-year contracts that would not automatically be renewed — until the teacher was evaluated.
Supporters think it would improve public education — but opponents argue it would discourage people from entering the teaching profession.
