Bank robber sought in King William County

KING WILLIAM COUNTY, VA (WWBT) - The following is a press release from Virginia State Police.

The Virginia State Police is asking for the public's assistance in identifying a suspect who robbed the Union First Market Bank in Manquin.  Shortly before 9:00 a.m. Monday morning, Virginia State Police and the King William County Sheriff's Office responded to the 3700 block of Route 360, Richmond-Tappahannock Highway after personnel at the bank called 911.

Troopers and sheriff's deputies searched the area for the suspect with the assistance of canine units.  The suspect was seen leaving the area by foot.  He is described as a black male, between 40 to 50 years-of-age, approximately 5'10" to 6'0" and 200 to 220 pounds, with a full beard and long dreadlocks that go below his shoulders.  He was last seen wearing jeans, a suede jacket with the letters LRG on the front and a tree symbol on the back, and a light colored stocking cap.

The suspect, who is considered armed and dangerous, displayed a handgun and stole an undisclosed amount of money from the bank.  He is pictured in the attached photographs.
