BLACKSBURG, VA (WWBT) - Virginia Tech President Charles Steger has been dropped as a defendant in the wrongful death lawsuit filed by two families of the April 16 shooting victims.
They've also dropped former Executive Vice-President Jim Hyatt from the case too.
Both men argued they're protected by sovereign immunity, because the state paid for their jobs.
The families are seeking $10 million — accusing the administration of negligence.
The lawsuits are expected to be heard next month.
