RICHMOND,VA (WWBT) - After several killings in just a few weeks, folks in Hanover will come together this weekend for a day of prayer.
One man has taken it upon himself to unite Hanover after several recent murders. 17-year-old Jyreffe Clark, 16-year-old Brett Wells, three-year-old twins Caroline and Madison King and Sarajane Hakopian were all killed within a six week span.
Lee Mitchell is hosting the day of prayer in Mechanicsville. He posted the event on Facebook and it has gotten more attention than he ever imagined.
"I literally thought we'd have 15 or 20 people, and all of a sudden it's like 300 people have confirmed," said Mitchell.
The day of prayer for Mechanicsville is scheduled for Saturday, February 11 and 1 p.m. at Pole Green Park.
