RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Former Spider Aaron Corp will be one of the few quarterbacks to have the opportunity to prove himself to NFL scouts on one of football's most important stages.
Corp was one of 19 quarterbacks invited to participate in the 2012 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. Corp was one of two CAA players to earn an invitation, along with Maine's Jerron McMillian.
After an injury-shortened junior season at Richmond, Corp started all 11 games for the Spiders in 2011. Corp had a great year, going 247-for-388 passing for 2,682 yards and 17 touchdowns. Over his Richmond career, Corp threw for 20 touchdowns, completing 61.4 percent (314-of-511) of his passes.
Corp's best game as a Spider came this past season in a hard-fought loss to Towson on October 9. Corp started the game completing his first 15 passes and finished the contest 31-of-34. Corp's 91.2-completion percentage for the game set an all-time FCS record, while his 353 yards passing were a career high.
On the year, Corp tallied three games with over 300 yards passing - all coming in CAA conference games. The Villa Park, Calif., native also had six games with multiple touchdowns, including a career-high three scores at Old Dominion on November 5.
One of the other quarterbacks invited to the Combine was Collegiate School product Russell Wilson, who spent his senior season playing for Wisconsin.
Other Commonwealth players heading to Indy in two weeks include four Hokies (RB David Wilson, WR Danny Coale, CB Jayron Hosley and WR Jarrett Boykin) and two Wahoos (DL Cam Johnson and CB Chase Minnifield).
