CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (WWBT) - Jury selection is underway in the murder trial of George Huguely for the death of his ex-girlfriend Yeardley Love.
The 24-year-old University of Virginia lacrosse player faces several charges, including first-degree murder.
Love, a member of the school's women's lacrosse team, was found dead in May 2010. Huguely told investigators he kicked down her door, shook her, hitting her head against the wall several times, according to police. His attorneys claim the death was accidental.
Jury selection is expected to wrap up Tuesday. 160 potential candidates were called to select the 12 jurors and three alternates.
As of 12:30 p.m. only two jurors have been picked, with seven excused. The judge asked both sides to pick up the pace.
