HIGHLAND SPRINGS, VA (WWBT) - Henrico may have sewn up the Capital District, but they also may have lost one of their leading seniors.
The Warriors dominated rival Highland Springs Friday night 81-55, improving to 12-0 in district play, and going up two games with two to play.
Henrico did lose senior Evan Thorpe to hand injury Thursday. He will be reevaluated on Monday to see if his season is over. He had a large cast on his right hand as he sat on the bench Friday.
Henrico took a 21-11 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back. The Warriors shot 67% in the second half, and outscored the Springers 50-35 after halftime.
Timmy Jones paced the Warriors with 22 points, Marvin Smith Jr. poured in 19 and Jordon Talley added 12. Springer Micah Thomas scored 19 points, but as a team HSHS shot just 32%.
Highland Springs is now 12-6 overall, and 10-2 in district play. Henrico has lost just once in 20 games, in the championship of the Times-Dispatch Invitational Tournament against John Marshall.
