Memorial service planned for murdered Montpelier woman

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The main suspect in the Montpelier woman's murder is back in Virginia.

Brian Mallory is waking up in the Pamunkey Regional Jail; charged with murdering his girlfriend.

Sarajane Hakopian was found dead in her home late Monday night. Sheriff's deputies say she had been stabbed several times.

Brian Mallory was arrested several hours later in Jacksonville, Florida. He had been driving Hakopian's minivan.

Mallory has a previous rap sheet.

He had been arrested before on abduction and robbery charges. His last stint in prison ended back in 2009. He then shared a home with Hakopian and her children.

A memorial service is being held February 4 for Hakopian. It will be from two to four at the American Legion Hall at 17662 Beaverdam Road, right across from her home.

Visitors are being asked to wear bright colors.
