Red-Hot Randolph-Macon eyes ODAC title

Ashland, VA (WWBT)- Sunday saw the Randolph-Macon men's basketball team win its eleventh straight game with a 74-45 victory over Guilford, and also avenge one of its few earlier season losses.  Now, the Yellow Jackets are taking aim at a conference title as the final month of the regular season approaches.

Randolph-Macon is currently 17-3 on the year, 10-2 in the ODAC, and has taken control of second place in the league.  The only team ahead of the Jackets in the standings is Virginia Wesleyan, which topped RMC on the road in December by a 63-60 score.  Wesleyan is 9-1 in conference play, 17-2 overall, and the two teams will meet again in Ashland on February 8.  Macon head coach Nathan Davis is quick to point out to his players that they control their own destiny and can win the conference as long as they keep winning.  The squad is currently ranked 21st in the latest Division III national poll.

A big part of the Yellow Jackets' success has been the play and leadership of J.R. Tucker product Adam Desgain.  Desgain is one of two seniors on the team and has stepped up big.  The squad lost seven seniors from a year ago, so his leadership has been crucial to this team's winning ways.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, when they travel to Washington and Lee for a 2:00 pm tip-off.
