RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - According to Policy and Legislative Affairs Director Sharon Worthy for the VEC, the VEC system for claimants is now operational.
"Verizon worked into the night to resolve the issue," said Worthy. "We were notified via email from Verizon as follows, 'The construction technicians found a crushed fiber tube in a manhole at a splice point on 8th Street. They were able to correct he problem by cutting back some of the slack on the crushed portion and re-splicing it."
The Virginia Employment Commission automated phone lines that thousands of people call to file weekly unemployment claims, was down for days.
Because of the number of people who are still waiting to file, it may be difficult to get through on the phone. You can still file for your claim through the web at www.vaemploy.com.
