Rozzell suits up for Richmond Elite

Richmond, VA (WWBT)- Less than a year ago, Brandon Rozzell was on top of the world as a key piece of VCU's final four run.  Now, Rozzell is looking to create a basketball career after college and his journey has landed him back in the Richmond area.

After a short stint in the developmental league, Rozzell is playing for the semi-pro Richmond Elite of the ABA.  The Elite hold their home games at Highland Springs High School, Rozzell's alma mater, and he plays for his former high school coach George Lancaster.  The former Ram is rejoining the team after beginning the season with the squad, then going to the developmental league.  Rozzell hopes that he will catch on with a team overseas in the near future, but for now, he's happy with the Elite and praises the competition he faces.  Sunday saw Rozzell come off the bench and play a huge roll in a 130-112 Richmond win.  He scored 37 points and hit seven three pointers in the process.

Rozzell also finds time to keep an eye on his former VCU teammates.  He says that he talks with Jamie Skeen, Joey Rodriguez and Ed Nixon regularly and also follows the current VCU team very closely.
