HENRICO, VA (WWBT) – A 23-year-old faces multiple charges in Henrico after police discovered more than two dozen, individually-wrapped bags of various drugs on his person while at an area mall Saturday.
We're told late Saturday evening, a security guard at Virginia Center Commons noticed the smell of marijuana on a subject seen inside the mall. The guard alerted police and when officers arrived, they began to question 23-year-old Lamar L. Holmes.
Officers discovered a green, leafy substance, which field tests later proved was marijuana, on Holmes' person. According to police, that's when Holmes removed his shirt and took off running from police.
Outside the mall, officers witnessed Holmes tossing items into nearby bushes. Once Holmes was back in police custody, officers retrieved the items Holmes allegedly tossed. Marijuana, cocaine and heroin were all recovered from the scene. In all, police say they found 38 individually-wrapped bags.
Holmes is charged with possession of marijuana and possession with the intent to distribute heroin.
