RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Police could use your help tracking down two people wanted for robbing and shooting a man in the West End.
This happened Friday night in the 4700 block of Cardinal Court.
Police say two men went up to two people in the Cardinal Forest apartment complex and demanded money.
When the victims refused, one of the suspects pistol whipped a victim and then shot the other one as he chased after them.
He was shot in the chest after an attempted robbery. Police say he's expected to survive.
Charvay Wright was watching TV with her children when she heard four gunshots.
"I wasn't sure if it was the TV or outside," Wright said. "I looked out the window and I didn't see anything but I told my kids to get away from the windows just in case."
She says police swarmed the area only a few minutes later. Despite a quick response from police, Charvay says she still doesn't feel safe.
"I just didn't want to be here." she said. "I wanted to get somewhere safe with my kids because, even though it was outside, you don't know if someone is running through the neighborhood or whatever, trying to hide out and it's scary."
People living here say this isn't the first time they've had to deal with violence in this apartment complex.
Last February a man was shot and killed inside one of these apartments. The alleged gunman held a woman and two children hostage inside, leading to a tense standoff with police.
Charvay says she's questioning whether she wants to live in this area anymore.
"I'm going to question all the time if it's safe enough for us to go out," Wright said. "I have to watch and make sure. Not that I didn't do that before, but you're just on alert after something like this takes place."
Right now police only have a vague description of the two men involved.
