RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Governor Bob McDonnell hopes to tackle drug dealers, violent sex offenders and gang members in the 2012 session.
McDonnell was joined by Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli as they listed their top public safety priorities for 2012.
The agenda continues his focus on efforts to assist prisoners in their efforts to return to society productively.
"We've got every opportunity for people to achieve success, if they don't we have a prison cell for them. But if they want to have a chance to succeed, we are going to have tools in place to help them," said Gov. McDonnell.
According to the governor, 95% of people who enter into prison, eventually are let out.
