Tractor trailer crash in Chesterfield

CHESTEFIELD, VA (WWBT) - A tractor-trailer crash on I-95 near 288 sends concrete from the jersey wall flying! And it's causing major delays at this hour! Drivers are only allowed to use one lane in either direction right now.

The crash happened just after 7:00 Wednesday evening, on I-95 north, close to the 288 exit. And it's taking a while to clean up. Here's why.

The overturned tractor trailer is straddling the jersey wall. State police on the scene tell us - it all started when the UPS tractor trailer, hauling two trailers, tried to change lanes.

It hit a car, in its blind spot.

We're told the truck driver, 55-year-old Sharon Simmons, over-corrected and hit the jersey wall - sending concrete flying into the southbound lanes.

The chucks of concrete hit at least two vehicles, causing damage.

The driver of the UPS truck was taken to VCU Medical Center. She'll be okay. She's charged with making an unsafe lane change. No one else was hurt.
