CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Two LC Bird High School students are robbed at gunpoint and the crime started outside of the school, when school was ending for the day.
It was back on January 2nd when the crime occurred. But, it was not reported to school leaders or the police until Tuesday. According to the police report, the suspects threatened to hurt the students if they told anyone.
It's a trail many students who go to LC Bird and Salem Church Middle use often.
That includes LC Bird Freshman Zack Wells. He even used the trail to get home after hanging out with his friends on Wednesday night. "I know a bunch of kids that walk through that trailer on the way home."
Just two weeks ago -- on the same trail -- is where two students got the scare of their lives.
It started just as school was ending on the first day back from winter break. Police say the suspects approached two high school boys at the back of the LC Bird. Those crooks told the boys to follow them and they wouldn't get hurt.
Those suspects took the 2 kids, 15 and 16 years old, right over to the trail. And, in the middle of the trail is where one of the suspects pulled a gun on those kids.
The suspects took some cash from one of the victims and told them to keep walking down the trail.
"I don't see why they would do something like that to a bunch of high schoolers," added Zack.
We talked with Chesterfield School leaders. We're told the school was not aware of the crime on campus until Tuesday when the students told administrators. That's when the police were called in and a report was filed.
This evening -- the school district left a message for parents on Ed-Line -- the school message system.
Police will not tell us whether the suspects involved are students at the high school or not.
