RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Safety is the top priority for one Richmond High School following a large brawl that broke out Tuesday.
Armstrong High School was put on lockdown for most of the day to try and return peace after three students were arrested in a series of fights.
Students and parents should see a large police presence when they head to school Wednesday morning. The school district says it's just a safety precaution to keep all the students there safe.
The spokesperson for Richmond City Schools, Felicia Cosby, says the school district will also have professionals available to work with students and help them resolve conflicts in a positive manner.
Cosby is encouraging parents and students to let them know when there's a problem between students outside of school hours so they can try and prevent them in the future. "Certain things happened in the neighborhood and unfortunately students brought it to school," Cosby said. "We're taking this extremely seriously. Parents and members of the community if you know something please do let us know."
School officials say they sent a notice home to the parents Tuesday.
