Leaders meeting on Henrico students' achievement gap

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - School leaders are meeting Tuesday in Henrico to look at the achievement gap between black and white students.

The last meeting had many parents fired up and this meeting is expected to attract a lot of concerned parents again. The parents say they want the best education for their students, but can't get it because the resources don't exist.

Parents say they are concerned with the resources, facilities and teachers in the East End, saying they aren't quite as good as schools in the West End. In past meetings, parents even said the school system places the least experienced teachers in the East End.

If you are interested in attending the meeting, it will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the New Bridge Learning Center at 5915 Nine Mile Road, in Henrico's East End.
