RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A diverse group united for a singular purpose at the State Capitol Monday night.

With stirring songs and speeches, the group "We are Virginia" hosted a vigil to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy of justice and freedom.

Speakers, including a Baptist preacher, a Richmond rabbi and the imam of central Virginia's largest mosque, told the crowd King's quest for civil rights is part of an ongoing, universal movement.

"We are Virginia" is committed to securing opportunity and equality for this, and future, generations in the commonwealth.
