RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Today, January 16, concerned Virginians will gather at the State Capitol to express their concerns on all different types of issues.
While most government offices are closed for Martin Luther King Day, many activists are still expected to get state leaders to listen to their concerns.
One big issue this year is firearms.
Gun law activists on both sides of the issue have strong opinions on their Second Amendment right.
Now that Republicans have taken the majority in both the House and the Senate.
Gun activists are hoping they'll cut some restrictions on their Second Amendment rights.
At the same time, anti-gun groups will be out demanding lawmakers to cut what they call the gun show loop hole.
It allows people to buy guns from private dealers without a background check.
Supporters believe this could cut down on crime a great deal, but pro-gun activists believe the right to bear arms will keep more people safe.
Of course we'll see if state leaders listen to these concerned Virginians.
