LPGA making return to Virginia soil

WILLIAMSBURG, VA (WWBT) - After a two year hiatus, the LPGA will once again play a tournament at Kingsmill.

The Kingsmill Championship will begin on Thursday September 6th and end on Sunday the 9th. The purse is expected to be $1.3 million.

From 2003-2009 Kingsmill hosted the Michelob Ultra Open, nicknamed the sport's "Fifth Major". But Anheuser-Busch pulled sponsorship, and the tour did not return the course that many players have professed their love for.  The agreement is only for two years, however LPGA officials are hoping that the LPGA will return to Kingsmill for much longer than that.
