RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - RoomStore plans to close more than a third of its stores after filing for bankruptcy.
Bankruptcy Judge Douglas O. Tice Jr. granted permission the company hoping to reorganize under bankruptcy protection.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that the Goochland-based company will close stores in five states, including the Bargain Depot Center on West Broad Street.
At least 25 of its discount furniture stores will close. The remaining stores should be starting liquidation sales Friday. The company says it also plans to reduce its staff and expenses.
