VSU loses CIAA opener in Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, NC (WWBT) - Virginia State hit the road for its first conference game, but could not come home with a win.  The Trojans fell at Winston-Salem State, 56-43.

Kenny Mitchell paced the Trojans with 15 points and 6 rebounds, but no other VSU player scored in double figures. VSU shot 40% from the floor and turned the ball over 20 times.

WyKevin Bazemore led Winston-Salem State with 14 points off the bench, and Marcus Wells had 12 points and 8 rebounds.

Virginia State is now 1-11 overall, while WSSU improves to 8-2.
