Virginia Tech loses Sugar Bowl

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Virginia Tech is leaving New Orleans without a Sugar Bowl title.

The Hokies couldn't pull out a win in the game against Michigan that went into overtime.

It looked like Tech scored a touchdown to take the lead — but it didn't last long. It was overturned after the replay.

Virginia Tech then missed a field goal on the next play.

Michigan's kicker hit a 37-yard field goal in overtime to give the Wolverines a 23-20 win over Tech.

Virginia tech has a lot to be proud of. This was Tech's second consecutive bowl game, their fourth appearance in the last five years.

They end the season with 11 wins.
