Petersburg man missing for two years

PETERSBURG, VA (WWBT) - This month marks the anniversary of a Petersburg man who seemingly, vanished. It's been two years since Michael Green disappeared. Friends and family members say they're not giving up hope until they have answers.

Green's family lives in New York. I spoke with his father by phone - he tells me the family is desperate for answers and that they are in constant communication with Petersburg police. Loved ones are holding out hope that Green will turn up somehow, somewhere, safely.

More than 700 days have passed since loved ones have seen or heard from 27-year-old Michael Green. He disappeared in December 2009.

Loved ones are hoping the anniversary of his disappearance will spark renewed interest in the case.

"It's sad and it hurts my heart. I carry around a heaviness for this missing man," said Pastor Edward Council.

Green's pastor believes someone out there knows what happened.

"I'd love to see someone give the authorities and this family some closure," he said.

On December 18th 2009-- Green went to Southside Regional Medical Center because he wasn't feeling well. He was given a prescription and sent home.

Green disappeared the next day. He was last seen at his Petersburg home by a roommate.

Green left behind his cell phone, ID and keys. Items loved ones say he'd never willingly leave home without.

Over the years, fliers with Green's face have been posted throughout the area. His family traveled from New York to Petersburg in search of answers. A billboard was also put up in hopes of finding Green.

"One of the things we continue to do is pray," said Council

Two years later -- there are still more questions than answers.

If you have any information on the whereabouts of Michael Green you're asked to contact Petersburg Police or Crime Solvers at 861-1212.

Family members tell us they along with police continue to contact hospitals, jails, and morgues in an effort to pinpoint Green.
