Maynor shines, Harper sits as NBA season tips off

Oklahoma City, OK (WWBT)- The 2011-2012 NBA season tipped-off on Sunday night, a great Christmas gift to NBA fans everywhere.  Former Richmond star Justin Harper and former VCU standout Eric Maynor considered it an even bigger gift, as they got the chance to take the court for the first time this season.

Maynor's Thunder and Harper's Magic clashed in both team's season opener.  Harper, the former Meadowbrook High School and Richmond Spiders star, was hoping to make his NBA regular season debut, and while he was present on the bench the entire game, did not see anytime on the floor.  Maynor, meanwhile, played a key role off the bench for Oklahoma City.  The former Ram posted eight points on 3-of-5 shooting in 14 minutes of play.  He connected on two three pointers and also added three assists.  Maynor played a key role for the Thunder last year during the playoffs in a run to the Western Conference Finals.

Harper will get another chance to make his NBA regular season debut Monday night as the Magic host the Rockets.  Maynor and the Thunder are also in action Monday night, as they travel to Minnesota.
