Police arrest driver involved in deadly hit-and-run

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Police have arrested a man in connection to a deadly hit-and-run.

Shortly after 2:00 Friday morning police say Bruce L. Carter, 47, was walking in the 400 block of North 8th Street when he was hit by a car.

Carter was taken to VCU Medical Center where he later died.

About 30 minutes later police spotted a vehicle with front-end damage matching the description of the car involved in the accident.

Andre U. Vaughan, 47, of Richmond was taken into custody and has been charged with manslaughter and driving under the influence.

    Police are investigating the death of a man in Henrico Friday night.  It happened before 10 p.m. at the Exxon gas station on Mechanicsville Turnpike near Crump Street.  Further details on the victim and how he died are still unknown.  Police have not said if there is a suspect in the case and are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
